REGIONAL TEACHER WORKSHOPS

ADVANCED PLACEMENT ENGLISH LITERATURE AND COMPOSITION

These workshops offer sessions on preparing students to take the AP English Literature exam. You will leave with enough curriculum materials for a year or more of instruction. Sessions will also give teachers the chance to exchange ideas and techniques they have found effective in their own classes. These workshops will be led by several experienced AP English Literature teachers, including Jane Schaffer from San Diego.

A MODEL CURRICULUM FOR THE LESS-THAN-MODEL STUDENT™

This workshop was created in response to teacher requests for approaches to help "regular" students--those who do not plan on going to college after graduation. They need more help and guidance in reading with better comprehension, clarifying their writing, and making abstract connections. You will leave this workshop with ready-to-use ideas and activites adaptable to any grade level or piece of literature. The workshops will be led by a number of English teachers experienced in teaching non-college bound students, including Jane Schaffer and Anne Foster from San Diego.

PRE-AP ENGLISH/VERTICAL TEAMS FOR JUNIOR HIGH/MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS (GRADES 7-10)

These workshops offer sessions on teaching Pre-AP English students to prepare them more effectively for AP English. You will leave with enough curriculum materials for a year or more of instruction and will give teachers the chance to exchange ideas and techniques they have found effective in their own classes. These workshops will be led by a number of English teachers experienced in teaching Pre-AP and AP English, including Jane Schaffer and Anne Foster from San Diego.
