Annette Hillis, B. A.

Annette Hillis taught in the elementary and middle school classroom for 23 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science from California Polytechnic University, Pomona and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, San Bernardino. Annette served as a District Literacy Coach for both middle and high schools for 10 years and worked closely with AVID teachers in the area of writing. She was three times chosen teacher of the year in her district for her work teaching and training both elementary and secondary students and teachers. Annette has been an Educational Consultant for the Riverside County Office of Education and has taught gifted children at the University of California, Riverside in their summer program. As a Teacher on Special Assignment, she worked as a mentor for dozens of new teachers. After being trained in the Jane Schaffer program, Jane herself chose Annette to co-present with her in the early 2000s. Annette has successfully used the Jane Schaffer Writing Program during her years as a teacher and coach, has given numerous trainings to elementary, middle and high school teachers, and is now content to be one of several National Trainers.

Annette and her husband, Gregg, have a blended family of 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. When Annette is not presenting or traveling, she and Gregg like to spend time volunteering for and contributing to non-profits such as Hemet Hospice where they conduct Youth Bereavement Groups in the secondary schools.
