This workshop is designed to provide teachers with strategies to equip students for the written component of the Texas Success Initiative Assessment-2.0 (TSIA2): a well-developed argumentative essay. Participants will learn a practical approach to the demands of the test, including how to 1) approach an argument's concession, counterargument, and refutation; 2) develop effective body paragraphs; and 3) write concise introductions and conclusions.
Educators will leave this training with pragmatic and immediately applicable strategies to implement with students on day one. Students will gain confidence as they prepare for success on the test and beyond.
